Turbine Vibrators

Characteristics: Quiet, long life, low air consumption

Description: A turbine wheel rotating on ball bearing(s) delivers high centrifugal force, especially suited for fine, dry materials that bridge stored in small to medium size hoppers.

Recommendation: Intermittent operation (4 to 8 hours/day) when considering energy usage and life.

Piston Vibrators

Characteristics: Moderate life, rugged construction, linear force output

Description: Well suited for small, medium and large hoppers with wet, sticky materials that rathole such as prepared foundry sand; also suited for chutes and feeder applications; low initial cost; high noise levels with impacting models; substantially reduced noise levels with non-impacting models; requires lubrication; low air consumption.

Recommendation: Intermittent operation (4 to 8 hours/day when considering energy usage and life. For continuous duty, use the FP, FPLF, VLB, or VTL/FAL series which are more energy efficient.

Rotary Air Motor Driven Vibrators

Characteristics: Powerful, portable, high amplitude

Description: A Powerful vibrator suited for medium to large hoppers with dry or wet, sticky materials that rathole such as prepared foundry sand; also suited for placing and consolidating very low "slump" concrete in steel forms or concrete molds; also suited for portable applications such as a railcar shaker; high noise levels; requires lubrication and clean air, moderate air consumption; repairable.

Recommendation: Intermittent and continuous operations where high force output and/or portability are required or where electrical power is unavailable or undesirable.

Piston Railcar Shaker

Characteristics: Simple, inexpensive, easy to mount

Description: Simulates a high frequency hammer; male wedge slips into female bracket on rail hopper car; low air consumption compared to other types of air vibrators; high noise level. 52 lbs.

Recommendation: Intermittent or continuous duty unloading most products shipped in closed hopper rail cars. Difficult products may require a vibrator on each side of the rail car discharge pocket(s).
